Songwriters & Musicians – Cash In With Affiliate Links

Donnykees.com/songs

A songwriter or musician can optimize their catalog and website beginning by creating an Amazon or iTunes Affiliate links profile for themselves. They already own the rights to their site and this way they can “own their links” on it too!

As a musical artist the site should already have a Song or Discography page. This is the page to add  new affiliate links created using iTunes or Amazon to each track and album listed. If both music services are being provided it’s a good idea to include graphic links to the item on each website.

Go the extra mile and create a post for each song and album and link out to it from the Songs or Discography page. On each post title it the song or album title and include any information available. This includes track info, official or live videos available and it could even include a personal fact from the writer or creator. Add share buttons – and you can begin sharing your work daily with fans and visitors to the site.

An artist that creates content regularly and engages fans is sure to see a return using affiliate links.

Bonus: On an Artist or Musician website homepage display a “Top 5 List” with affiliate links to the most popular or favorite songs from or of the artist.

Make Sharing Content Easy – Facebook Like & Share Buttons

It’s smart to Add A Facebook Like Button To Your Website but also to all other content as well, from posts to pages. When a potential customer or fan lands on any of your content it’s important that within a second or two they can click a button to instantly share what they have found with a friend or their whole online social network of friends, family and acquaintances.

Recently the fashion and music photo blog, Under The Guise, decided to move from a free WordPress.com blogging platform to a hosted WordPress.org platform. UTG did this mainly because they wanted a site that included more social sharing tools but was also easy to navigate and update.

You can be assured that your site will be easy to share if it contains the following:

  • Share Buttons on the front page of posts – don’t make a reader have to click through to get to a Facebook like button.
  • Links to your prominent and active social networks – a visitor may decided they like your whole site, not just a post
  • Pretty Permalinks – setting your permalinks gives your visitors a more interesting and clean link to share. The permalink can include the post or page title, as well as a date.

Upgrading Your Blog: It’s Worth Sharing

If you are looking to optimize your free blog in search engines and get better analytics consider upgrading to a WordPress hosted blog and site.

This is important to do if you are constantly posting new content. You work hard to create it so it’s important to optimize every post from social sharing to having your keywords being pulled in top searches.

It is easy to export your pasts posts and import them into a new hosted WordPress site. Stellashops.com recently switched from a free Blogger site to a WordPress site that they can basically run and edit on their own. They found the transition relatively painless and are happy with the ease of their new professional blog and website!

A Simple Splash Page When Your Website Is In Transition

Is your company, brand or band in a transitional phase?  - if so it’s important to make visitors aware and have a simple landing page available to them.

Consumers and fans will continue to visit your site regardless of whether you are still in business or active.

Typically, these visitors are coming to get the latest news, buy something or get date/location information. Do them a favor by cleaning up your site to reflect or guide them towards the basic information they are looking for.

1. Contact Information: Link out to your active social networks – Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. Add your contact email – if not going to be checked regularly do not bother. Brick and morter locations can link out to their Google Place page or Yelp! review pages.

2. Media : Link out to your media sites, such as YouTube or Flickr. This directs visitors directly to your content instead of them having to search for it themselves and find it from someone else.

3. Buy Links: Your website may be down or in transition but it’s important to link out to where you want your customers or fans to purchase your products. Take the extra step and set up affiliate links for any products you may have on Amazon or iTunes.

4. Logo : Include a strong simple image of your product, logo or self.

It’s fairly simple to make a page as described above because all of the assets are already available. It it important to do this because a possible costumer who visits a site with old news and old content is immediately annoyed. A visitor to your site has millions of websites to choose from, so when they choose to visit yours – have it ready for them!
